Purging storage to allow syncing of new items

No, that won't work.You can't control which of your files are synced and if you purge storage you'll basically make your file sync less reliable and just re-sync the previously uploaded files.188BET靠谱吗You can try to delete (in Zotero) some existing attachments, but that's obviously pretty tedious way to free up space.You can look at Snapshots which can be fairly large, as something to delete.

Otherwise, if you need more storage space and the iOS app, finding a weDAV provider that gives you more storage at a lower or no cost is the only way to go.
